Whether you are a first-time parent or you have a toddler in your home who still wear diapers, this diaper guide deserves your attention. Ever since they are introduced, diapers have come a long way. It all started with cloth diapers going all the way to pampers and now pull ups diapers for girls.
There are so many different types of diapers there that it’s easy to get confused. Here are some of the common types you will come across:
1. Cloth Diaper
They are maybe old-fashioned, but they surely as ecofriendly. Cloth diapers are mostly made from absorbent materials. Since a cloth alone cannot hold in the liquid, you have to place diaper insets inside and then make your baby wear the cloth.
2. Disposables
They are cellulose fiber pads which are way much absorbent than cotton or fleece. The pad is composed of chemical crystals that have the ability to absorb liquid weight.
3. Pull Ups
As the name suggests, these are pre-closed diapers that are worn like pants. They are highly recommended after you start your child’s potty training. They are identical to an underwear if you think about it. You will find such pull ups baby diapers online too that have absorbency pads placed inside to contain the liquid and make sure the baby does not feel uncomfortable.
4. Training Pants
They have the shape of an underwear and they are meant to help older children transition from the diaper to underpants. They are also worn during the potty training phase. They are a bit larger in size as compared to other diapers mentioned above. Since they look similar to a piece of cloth, it will help your child in the transition better.
5. Preemie
These are the types of diapers that are designed for pre-term infants. The diaper looks just like a disposable diaper but it is smaller in size. It comes with a waistband to accommodate the umbilical cord of the baby.
6. Swim Diapers
These diapers are, of course, designed to wear at the pool or beach. They come with extra cuffs and elastic around the thighs to prevent leakage in water. To make sure the diaper does not get wet when the baby is in the water or a damp surface, the diaper’s outer material is made water resistant to prevent bloating.
7. Contoured Diapers
These diapers have a narrow crotch and wide wings which are supposed to wrap around the waist of the baby. Normally, Velcro strap is used. Some of them have elastic waist and legs too.
Since various diaper brands are offering diapers in different sizes and types, it can be overwhelming to choose the one that fits your baby just right. You might have to experiment with various brands and even sizes to figure out which is the right one for your munchkin. You can buy small packs of diapers from different brands to test. Pick the one that your baby feels the most comfortable in. Of course, you have to be sure the diaper doesn’t leak.
