Samsung A8 Review

The Samsung Galaxy A8 is an affordable phone and is equipped with most of the features that are present in the flagship phones. There are many powerful and advanced smartphones released this year – you can check out phone only plans – but Samsung A8 is the most interesting one. The A series of Samsung is known for providing cheaper and lower spec phones as compared to the flagship S series. However, the Galaxy A phones have now come a long way and are much better than the previous models. The Samsung Galaxy A8 is not the successor to A7 and is considered as the trimmed version of S8 as it resembles the screen and overall design.

Design

The Samsung A8 has a water-resistant design with a metal frame and glass back. The appearance is overall plain but it still looks elegant. The back of A8 is curved and the front is a 2.5D glass, which means that it is rounded off at the edge. There is some blank space above around the display and the finish is plain too. The phone is available in grey, blue, black, and red colors. It is also equipped with a light reactive layer and has IP68 water resistance.

Display

The display of A8 is 5.6 inch and is super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 X 2220. The screen is amazingly color saturated and the kind of vividness it provides is matchless. You can also customize the screen settings by using different modes such as AMOLED cinema, AMOLED photo, and Basic. The screen is bright and crisp enough and you will enjoy watching videos on it. The aspect ratio is 16:9 but the pixel density is lesser than S9.

Camera

Samsung A8 is equipped with dual-lens front camera that is perfect for selfies. The rear camera is of 16 MP and it works perfectly in low light conditions too. The camera offers a video recording at 1080p, and there is no 4k. The dual-lens cameras have a sensor of 16 MP and 8 MP along with a live focus mode that allows you to create a DSLR effect by blurring out the background. This makes it a great choice among phone only plans.

Battery Life

The phone is equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery which can last for a day after being charged. However, this charge lasts whole day only when the use is moderate. If your use is heavy such as watching YouTube videos or listening to podcasts, you’ll need to charge it by evening. Some tasks such as audio streaming can drain the battery quickly but the phone comes with a fast charger that allows you to charge the phone quickly.

Performance

The performance of Galaxy A8 isn’t that impressive as compared to other phones. It is equipped with an octa-core Exynos 7885 processor paired with a 4 GB of RAM. It gives good performance for web browsing and gaming but the very heavy and high-end games won’t run up to the mark.

Pros of Galaxy A8

  1. Fast camera

  2. Bold and beautiful screen

  3. Excellent water resistance

  4. Build quality is good

  5. Super vivid OLED screen

Cons of A8

  1. Limited storage

  2. Poor GPU at this range

  3. No 4K video recording

  4. Low light photos aren’t up to the mark

According to best phone plans Australia, its price comes as midrange, which is the best thing about it. Do check it out if you’re looking for a reasonable yet powerful option.
