Should You Buy A Used Bike

If you can’t afford a new bike, then a used one will be enough to help you with your biking tendencies, however look for the following points when buying a used bike:

Guide for Buying a Used Bike

If you’re looking for some used mountain bikes for sale in Sydney, then look no further because wherever you place an ad or look, you’ll find a supplier or two at every joint. But remember you don’t want to buy a used bike and then make expensive repairs which won’t provide you with much advantage at all. So be very careful while making a purchase.

1. Have It Checked Thoroughly

You’ve searched for used bikes online or from colleagues or friends, and you found it. Now before you pay the money and get along with your bike, have it checked thoroughly preferably by an expert or someone who knows bikes. You can also get a shopkeeper or bikes to come with you and inspect the bike. Sure, you’ll be paying him his share but his judgment will end you with a good bike rather than a poor working one.

2. Look for Scratches, Dents and Worn Out Parts

If you’re checking the bike on your own then be sure to look carefully in the light for scratches, dents and parts which appear replaced or worn out. Especially around the chain and brake area. While the buyer must have concealed the visible faults, he cannot conceal the ones which are too strong. So look properly at the bike and see if you spot something faulty.

3. Push the Seat Up and Down

Push the seat up and down. By doing this, you’ll find out whether the bike has been used for way too long or not. If the seat comes back with minimum noises then you’re safe but if it properly hinges up and down and create and slinging noise then it means the bike was been worn out and might give away in a matter of few months or so. Don’t pull it too harsh that it comes out, just give a little lift to it and observe the noises.

4. Wheels and Tires

Look at the wheels and tires, if you can’t afford a new seat right away then make sure the bike you choose has sets which can work for some time. Wheels and tires show perfect signs of wearing out if observed carefully. Rotate them and see if it creates a friction or if you find some considerable tears. Sometimes the tears are too small, they are fixed but if there are many then these tires won’t do you any good at all.

5. Ask for the Reason of Sale

When looking for used mountain bikes for sale in Sydney, make sure you ask the owner the reason he wishes to sell it away. Accidents or years of using the bike is no good to you unless you wish to simply go around on small easy terrains. Mountain bikes should be bought new but you can get a good used one as well if the bike has been kept in a good condition!
