All You Need to Know About the Strength Based Counseling


Strength based counseling refers to counseling, which emphasizes the importance of being strong and building strength as opposed to losing weight and the converse. In other words, counselors do not do what they can to lose weight to get a better weight loss results.


So what does that mean for weight loss efforts? Well, first of all the counselor will encourage you to keep on the diet until you reach your goal weight but because you have kept on your diet and exercise program longer than your client you will soon achieve your goal weight.


After you have achieved your goal weight and have been keeping it off and eating the right things for the past several months the body no longer needs the exercise or diet to maintain itself and thus the body will need less energy to stay in shape and the weight will come off. So here we are still talking about strength-based counseling.


I don't think I have ever met a client who lost weight and then got back into the same place with their body weight, so what does that say about the importance of strength? It says that this person has more muscle than the client.


Strength-based counseling is important because it focuses on the need for endurance. Endurance is not a magical feeling but rather a skill that must be learned and practiced. This means that if you want to develop strength you should not expect that the value of strength will be restored by losing weight.


If you were a sports person and you became injured at some point during your career and had to give up that might be a reason to put off eating a healthy diet. But there is also the situation where you are injured and the need to continue the sport is a need that must be met.


If you were strong athletes, you would always feel the need to push yourself and be ready to give it your all. You never felt as though you were running on empty. Your desire to continue to push and do the best you could have not diminished even though you have had your share of injuries and physical pain.


When you were a strong athlete you didn't just workout and eat healthy, you used your knowledge of your body and knew that your body needed to be trained to use the excess energy. You pushed yourself to perform and your body built the endurance that allowed you to perform at your best.


Strength is about using the body to build the body. It is about training and maintaining the body so that you can continue to perform. You must keep pushing the body to get stronger to keep it fit and healthy.


The value of strength rests on the fact that people who are overweight and engaged in weight loss programs lose the chance to build their strength. They lose the chance to continue working out the strength which they already have in their bodies. They also lose the chance to continue working on building up the endurance of their bodies.


Strength based counseling focuses on maintaining the body's ability to be strong and to build more strength. It is designed to help people get the necessary strength they need to accomplish their goals. A strong body can and will keep you healthy by helping you avoid injury.
