Everything about T Slot Aluminium Extrusion You Should Know

The most common model for a slot in an aluminium fuselage is the t-Slot aluminium extrusion. It has a large, conical tab in its base which allows it to be pressed and removed with great ease and that's why it's the choice of many airplane manufacturers. The t Slot aluminium extrusion can be used on a wide variety of aluminium alloys. It works equally well with PVC and fiberglass, and even with carbon composites.

The t Slot aluminium extrusion is not the only option though. Other methods exist, such as cavity wall construction and sandwich construction. Some of these techniques give better dimensional stability and require smaller frames due to the reduced cross-section of the fuselage profile - but some are better for particular applications. In this article we will consider both the t Slot and cavity wall construction options and evaluate them against each other.

As the name suggests, the t Slot aluminium extrusion method mounts aluminium profiles into a slot in a fuselage. The profiles can either be pressed or threaded in place, or be supported by some kind of cage or structure. Some of these are supported internally with metal gussets, others are supported externally with steel tubing. The profiles can also be pressed or threaded together, and then joined internally, with either a reinforcing tape or a chord groove.

Pressing is the simplest method of the Slot extrusion die formation. It involves feeding rollers into a steel blank until they reach the top of the aluminum alloy sheet. At this point the rollers and alloy edge came into contact, creating a pressure that squeezing the metal sheet together at the top. Pressing also includes a secondary process called 'radiusing'. This method allows the extruded aluminum alloy to be pushed into a shaped depression and is used when aluminum alloy sheets have perfectly round corners.

With raising, the metal sheet does not pass through the rollers initially. Instead, the metal rolls from the lower end of the cavity toward the top, creating a squeezing effect at the top. Pressure is applied with a cylindrical or linear plunger on one side of the t-Slot aluminium extrusion die. When the extruded aluminum alloy reaches the correct pressure, the metal rolls out in a cylindrical pattern and is immediately fed back into the cavity. This is also useable in linear roller rail systems.

The aluminum t Slot die can be used for a wide variety of applications including aircraft structures, tank structures, and tanks for mining operations. Some of these applications involve large volume production and therefore may require numerous aluminum alloy sheet feeders. These die cuts are designed to be flexible to fit numerous possible production runs, providing the company with the ability to scale production if necessary. Many suppliers also offer a 'drop-in' service that allows customers to simply order an aluminum sheet feeder and then install it themselves, saving time and money. In this way, suppliers can customize their aluminium extrusion services to meet the exact needs of their clients, ensuring that their sold products are made to exacting standards.

An important aspect of using t-Slot extrusion profiles is that it gives the manufacturers the opportunity to create very strong, durable materials that last for many years. When using standard dimensional drawings, manufacturers would have to make thousands of cuts to produce the precise sizes needed to fabricate their products. With the t-Slot structural framing process, however, the manufacturer can simply make one quick cut per dimensional drawing, reducing waste and unnecessary cost. Using this method, manufacturers can also incorporate any design changes they feel is necessary, reducing the costs associated with additional design work. A t-Slot extruded aluminium frame, for example, can often be designed to incorporate various hinge options, including internal hinges, external hinges, or even a mechanism that locks the frame together when bolted together.

When it comes to manufacturing, there are many advantages to using t-Slot structural framing around a wide variety of projects. From large, heavy industrial machinery to intricate home furniture pieces, the right t Slot aluminum extrusion profile can ensure a consistent, quality result every single time. Using t-Slot extruded aluminium extrusions, manufacturers can manufacture their products to specific, detailed designs by avoiding costly overkill, or the need to re-flow parts, which is often the case when using dimensional drawings. By taking advantage of t-Slot aluminium extrusion techniques, manufacturers can quickly and easily fabricate or modify their products to fit their exact needs.
